Privacy and data use

Privacy policy.

This policy explains what data Korean Food Guide handles, why it is used, how long it is kept, and the choices available to visitors.

1. Scope and operator

This policy applies to koreanfoodguide.pe.kr and its language editions. The site is published by the Korean Food Guide Editorial Desk. It is an informational food-and-culture publication; visitors do not need an account to read it.

Questions, correction requests, and privacy requests can be sent through the site's contact form.

2. Information handled

Language preference

When a language edition is selected, the site stores the kfg_lang cookie for up to one year. It contains only a supported language code and is used to return visitors to their preferred edition.

First-party site analytics

Content pages use an operator-controlled analytics service at admin.aicodelab.co.kr. It receives a randomly generated visitor identifier and browser-session identifier, page path and title, referring hostname, browser language, screen and viewport width, and client information used to derive broad device, browser, and operating-system categories. Visitor and session identifiers are cryptographically hashed before they are stored in the analytics database. Raw IP addresses are not stored with these analytics events.

The tracker does not run when a browser sends a recognized Do Not Track signal or Global Privacy Control signal, automated crawlers are excluded, and it is disabled for visitors detected in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland. Identifier-level analytics events are deleted by a daily retention job after 90 days; aggregate daily counts may be retained longer because they no longer contain the browser identifiers.

Server operation and approximate country

Like most websites, the web server may process and log the requested URL, date and time, IP address, referrer, user agent, response status, and related diagnostic details for delivery, security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting. The incoming IP address may also be checked against a locally installed DB-IP country database to choose a likely language edition. The IP address is not sent to DB-IP for that lookup.

Contact submissions

If a visitor uses the contact form, the site stores the selected topic, message, optional name, optional reply email, optional page URL, submission time, language, and a one-way hash derived from the IP address for abuse prevention. The raw IP address is not stored with the submission. The server record is retained for 90 days and then removed during routine contact-form cleanup. A copy is delivered to the operator's Gmail mailbox so the inquiry can be answered; that mailbox copy is kept only as long as needed to handle the request, normally no longer than 90 days, unless a longer period is reasonably required for security, legal obligations, or dispute records.

3. Google AdSense and advertising

Korean Food Guide uses, or intends to use, Google AdSense to fund free access to the site. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, limit, secure, and measure ads. Google's advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Depending on the visitor's region, choices, and the site's AdSense settings, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.

When Google services are present, a browser may automatically send Google the page URL, IP address, browser information, and cookie or device identifiers. Google explains this processing in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and describes advertising cookies in its Advertising technologies notice.

If third-party ad vendors or certified ad networks are enabled in AdSense, those parties may also use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies. When the publisher enables Google's certified consent message, it presents the configured provider list and consent choices in the regions selected in AdSense.

Visitors can manage Google ad personalization in My Ad Center and can opt out of participating companies' personalized advertising through AboutAds. Blocking or deleting cookies in the browser may also limit advertising identifiers.

4. Purposes and legal bases

Data is used only to deliver and secure the site, remember a chosen language, understand aggregate readership, answer submitted messages, prevent abuse, and support the site through advertising. Where applicable law requires consent for cookies, local storage, analytics, or personalized advertising, processing for those purposes depends on the visitor's valid consent. Essential delivery and security processing is based on operating the requested service and legitimate security interests.

Korean Food Guide does not sell names, email addresses, contact messages, or analytics identifiers. Advertising providers may process data for ad delivery and measurement as described in their own notices and the choices presented to the visitor.

5. Recipients and transfers

Information may be processed by the site's hosting and security infrastructure, the operator-controlled analytics service, and Google and the ad technology providers selected in the AdSense account. Contact-form content is delivered to the operator's mailbox hosted by Google (Gmail), so Google processes that email and its delivery metadata under Google's applicable terms and privacy notice. Data may be processed outside a visitor's country. Each external provider is responsible for the safeguards and disclosures described in its own terms and privacy notice.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users or the service, investigate abuse, or establish and defend legal claims.

6. Choices and privacy rights

  • Use the controls in Google's consent message, when shown, to consent, refuse, manage, or later revoke advertising choices.
  • Use browser settings to delete or block cookies and local storage. Some language-preference features may then reset.
  • Enable Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track to stop the site's custom browser analytics from starting.
  • Request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection where those rights apply by using the contact form. Include enough detail to identify the relevant submission; browser analytics identifiers generally cannot be linked back to a named person.

Visitors may also contact their local data-protection authority. Applicable rights vary by location and may be subject to legal exceptions.

7. Children

The site is a general-audience cultural guide and is not directed to children under 13. Korean Food Guide does not knowingly request personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted personal information may request deletion through the contact form.

8. Security, retention, and changes

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, including HTTPS, restricted non-public storage, input validation, one-way identifier hashing, and limited retention. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

This policy may be updated when site features, providers, or legal requirements change. Material revisions will change the review date shown below. More detail about browser storage appears in the Cookie Policy.
